New bike idea (need help)

and what might they be?

I'm not an enthusiast like a lot of people on here..but i need a new, decent bike that's gonna last another 10 years :)

Also, how do you measure a frame..so i can compare to what i have now?
well Hollowtech II as will be on the Hone or XT bikes, but not the deore, i can't find a decent description of it, but the long and short of it is that it will make the bike lighter and the crankset last longer :).

A1 is what you'll be wanting to measure :).

Thanks mate, will check over the weekend. :)

Cinder's are old tyres. Good in thier day but come on! From experience I would avoid Deore apart from the chainset. Front mech seized up too easily, rear casstete is heavy and shifting is slow. Shifters are are ok but clunky.

the one you posted will be fine. You say yourself your not an enthusiast so i take it your just going to be riding trails and such like, so yes it will last as long as you dont abuse it

Ok, my current bike is 20"...i think 19" on the above bike will be fine.

Anyone know websites that show you cycling routes in your area?
Have a look on SouthernDownHill. You can also get them from MBR, but you have to pay for them, and there won't be many of them.

Just realised it's 18", will that be ok do you think? Can having the smaller frame be balanced out by highering the seat?
What'd you want it for? usually XC bikes are big, and DH/FR bikes are small (dunno if that means anything to you :p).

Hmm..

XC = Cross country?
DH/FR = freeriding/downhill

I want to use it as i used my last bike..when i want and for what i want. Cycling to work on the roads, going for trips over the park, riding through the country..that sorta thing. :)

edited after a little investigation. :)

Well the 18" will be easier to handle, but that kinda depends how the 20" handles for you...

It's fine, but i've nothing to compare it to. :)

Merlin Cycles were kind enough to send a couple more pics to me...thankfully the colour seems a little less lairy, and i want it more now :)
