So between the toss up for the ZX12R and the ZX9R, the 9 won. Picked it up today, very pleased with it. Its an 02, E2 with 10k on the clock and very clean.

That looks lovely! Will you and your new toy be along to the meet in March?

Yeah sounds like a good idea, I was looking at the thread the other day. I'm in Newbury so the Reading meet up is ideal for me.

What's the fuel consumption like on a zx9, approximately, when ridden, not like a nun but not full revs everywhere ? Was considering one in the future maybe. Only I read a thread the other day about the zx10 on here and iirc, it was stated about 90miles on a tank. Would think this wouldn't be that much different.

90 miles on a tank? more like 60,terrible tank range/consumption

Its a very practical bike really. You should see at least 140 to a tank, a fair bit more on a sensible motorway run.

The 12 on the other hand drinks like a fish, no matter how you ride it (awesome bike though)

or maybe the fact you ride around in 1st gear all the time :D;)

actually its 60mpg to reserve, ive just never been brave enough to find out howmany more miles to completely empty, still a crap bike tho,the op has a much better machine imo, more comfortable and the fairings are much stronger, mines paper thin

Cracking bike! Looks very tidy indeed.

Jealous :o
Don't be jealous, anyone get one its only cheap!

What made you for a 9 over the 12?

I have a ZX7R and it's a big bike!
The 12 just seemed like over kill for what I want, plus the terrible fuel and rear tyre shredding. The 9's are better priced imho and a similar 12 in mileage and age would have been about 4k.

Thanks! I think I did make the right choice. Although not having a fuel gauge is a bit rubbish, even my GSXR1000 K1 had one!

atleast you have a reserve switch(which will be hard to turn) they have done away with that on the newer zx6/10 just a silly orange light and the words FUEL displayed on your lcd clock making it impossible to know what time it is

i love that model kawasakis,i have the old g2 zx6r and its just so good, easily does the clock 170mph and so comfortable
