I think I'll do similar and just buy the original tall vertical radiators as they are the best compromise. Even if they aren't as powerful as convector radiators they should still be powerful enough for the rooms.
I'll put two in the living room just to be extra safe.
You can always top it up a bit on the odd occasion its really cold with a fan heater or similar.
I used to have some fancy ones in last house and they did get there, but took ages to get the house heated like simple flat panel ones.
If you boosted them at the start if it was really cold they managed just fine keeping the temps up.
House always felt drafty though cos it was over 3 floors and other half refused to shut any doors. As you heat downwards from the top, the top floor would heat up quickly as it was in effect heating from across the 3 floors, as that got up to temp the rads up there would go off, the lower floors would keep it topped up by the heat rising, once the middle floor was up to temp only the bottom floor rads would come on, and would seem to be on permanently!
It would literally be 10 degrees higher at the top than the bottom!
