WD SN750 is a good middle ground when on sale.

Higher failure rates and out of all the brands I've had seagate have been the only failures for me

If you can recall which drives did you have out of curiosity?

Thanks mickyflinn and arbiter I don't sadly it was years ago all I do remember both were identical drives and both failed within 1 week of each of other

To be honest they’re fairly much of a muchness, so long as you get > Sata II speeds. The SN 750 and 850 (the latter so long as you have pcie 4 are all good drives. As are the Adata XPG SX8200, Sabrent Rocket, Corsair MP510 and many others.

The SN 550 and Intel 665p are slower in benches but almost as quick IRL though, you could pick up a 1TB for under £100.

Personally I’m waiting on delivery of a FireCuda 520, but haven’t had the same experiences with Seagate you have.
