I received one of Porsches emails yesterday about the third generation Boxster.
Engine wise it looks better than thought, they've not gone down the rumoured 4 pot turbo route.....yet? The interior has received a much needed update and looks a nice place to be, the old interior looked dated imo. Not sure about the shape of the new headlights though, look more Nissan/Toyota than Porsche. Will need to see them in real life though before they are spoken about in the same vein as the 996/986 teardrops.
A few quotes from the mail mentions the 911 in the same sentence as the new Boxster and gives slightly difference figures, although that could be down to Sports Chrono and it's nice to see a 3 year warranty at last.
OTR prices seem high to me, especially in this current financial climate, time will tell.
A range of innovative technologies on the new models, many of which are also shared with the new 911, are key to achieving improvements in efficiency.
The 2.7-litre engine in the new Boxster delivers 265 hp and accelerates the car from 0 to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds with manual transmission or 5.5 seconds with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and Sport Chrono package, while the 3.4-litre engine in the new Boxster S produces 315 hp, resulting in a 0 to 62 mph time of only 5.1 seconds, or 4.8 seconds with PDK and Sport Chrono package.
An order for either of these models can be made by placing a £3,000 deposit with our Porsche Centre. Included in the price is a driving experience at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone and a three year warranty.
