New British sports car - Wells Vertige

I looked in the boot of one of these ar Goodwood, it was a state.
Plyboard and loose wires.
I was ushered away and they closed the boot before I could take a pic!
I hope it was just a pre-prod, but it looked like a VERY badly made kit car from that view.

The back looks like a 1970s American sports car and not in a good way. Other than that doesn't look too bad though, very TVR style.

It seems to be a case of throw a little bit of every sports car trope at it.

Honestly it just looks out of balance and kind of like they've just bolted a 'roof' onto another random body, it just doesn't go together.

I'm guessing they're trying for the 'retro' vibe with ford butterfly gt doors (stupid idea) and the 'curvy' design but in all honesty it looks dated.

Kind of find it funny they've used the word bespoke in the article in relation to the wheels, they're literally off the shelf wheels which can be bought for about £600 in any decent car mod shop...

As to the design, reminds me a bit of the swinger in gta online which is based on a jaguar xj13, although far less refined than the jag.

I see where they’re going with the Bristol Fighter cues, but it’s not for me. I know you shouldn’t compare new vs old, but there’s a bunch of exceptional sports cars out there for £40k (even British ones!). Exclusive, sure, but not my cup of tea. The styling isn’t terrible, but for something exclusive and British I’d take an Exige or a TVR with some change to make it my own… or just a lot of V Power.

I kinda like the looks in a retro sort of way i just don't see why i'd buy this over an Elise or something with a warranty i could rely on and a proven record for only slightly falling apart.

If you want to make a splash with a new car nowadays you really need to be doing it with an EV i'd have thought.

The front looks low but the rear looks high and bulky. Also for me the windscreen needs more rake and the roof needs to be lowered by more than a few inches.

As others have said it just looks awkward and just doesn't flow for me.

Looks like it took inspiration from the Alfa Stradale (a fabulous looking car), then had a few too many beers. Close, but not quite there.

as already commented, probably another one of many failures. Shame really as the premise is very cool
