Hello,

I'm In the process of putting the bits together for a new build, the budgets is around the £550 - £600 mark, I dont need a moniter, keyboard, mouse or OS, System is going to be mainly used for gaming, and web browsing, and some photoshop. I have come up with this

Picked this cpu and motherboard combination as its reputable for overclocking, I wont be overclocking to extreme, so hopefully stock heatsink and fan will be ok, and I'm not going for the 8800GTX as I'm only using a 19inch widescreen moniter (1440x900)

Also I hopefully wont need a new PSU, as I have an Xconnect Ultra 500W

Any help would be apreciated, as in all the parts will play nice together, and any potential problems.

Cheers.

Looks good

I'd switch out the Maxtor and get a WD AAKS 320GB hard drive, also the 650i Ultra for either (depending on budget) an Abit IP35-E, or if comes in budget then a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R.

Thanks for the input, is there a reason why you swap the hdd and moniter for the ones you have stated?
Yeah, I own 2 Maxtors are they were forged in the fiery pits of Hell. But the WD AAKS are faster, more reliable and quieter than the Maxtors. I would swap out the motherboard because it's the older 650i Ultra chipset. For another tenner and being £50 nearly under budget you could get a P35 chipset which is a lot newer, arguably better for overclocking and future-proofed.

Also, if you skimped on the case somewhat you could *maybe* fit in a quad core CPU, or at least at E6750.

Again thanks for the advice, I have decided to keep the case swap the hdd and motherboard (Abit) for you suggestions, after read reviews on both products. And also for an extra £27 over budget I can get an E6750, I thought that was a worthwhile upgrade to my build.

So Now it looks like this,

Will be pressing the buy button within the next few days.

Fibby, thanks for the help mate.

Flibby's advice is excellent here. If you wanted to get under 600 you could drop down to a cheaper CPU and overclock it. An E2160 should be good for 3-3.4 GHz without breaking a sweat.
