So I bought this couple of days ago..

Here is the finished build.

My problem now is that my cpu is kinda hot about 63 degrees on full load and my gpu about 88-91 degrees under full load.

Did I miss something? Also I noticed when running prime95 my mouse cursor lags and after a few seconds it becomes normal and lags again and then normal.
I know that prime95 makes my cpu to go under full load but i never had this cursor lag when I used to run it on my previous build.

Any help/advice is welcomed

Sounds like the heatsink isn't mounted correctly. Only reason it would be that hot. How much of the thermal paste did you use?

Did you feel when installing the heatsink it was nice and secure... rock solid! Or not?

Not sure on the GPU... It's not my field of expertise, however it doesn't seem too hot compared to other cards I've seen including my own. It is a dual GPU card remember, I would expect it to get hot. If it was my card, I wouldn't be concerned!

Cursor lag... is usually caused by 100% CPU usage. Nothing to worry about. Unless you plan on some FPS while running Prime? If you don't and I would hope not, don't worry about that. If it's fine when in normal operation, forget about it.

So... to conclude. Get some arcticlean thermal removal. It's amazing!

Get the heatsink reseated.

The only problem I came across with the heatsink was that I wanted to put it vertically fan in front of the ram stick drawing air from the front of the case to the back.. But there are some capacitors that are abit taller than normal so the mount for the heatsink wouldn't fit so I put it this way instead.

I will remove the heatsink later on today remove the thermal paste and re apply / install

Thermal paste I used this video as a guide line

Edit : Which is the best driver to use for the gtx590 the one from the manufacture or the one from nvidias website?

I would download direct from Nvidia. That's who makes the drivers after all.

Shouldn't matter much which way you mounted the cooler... that's too hot regardless.

Definitely try and get it a bit tighter. Not sure on how it fixes. However, if there's screws to tighten as there usually is. Do that.

The GPU temps seems normal.

The CPU temp is probably 5-10c higher because of your heatsink/fan orientation. I'm assuming it's pulling air up though the heatskink out the top of the case. The problem with this is the source air is comming past you hot graphics card so you are trying to cool the heatsink with warm air. :)

Any overclock?

Nice build btw, it's like the big daddy to mine. :p

To the OP... I'm sorry!!!

I read your temps the wrong way around. I thought the CPU was up near the 90 mark. Wayy tooo hott!! Hence my asking for you to reseat heatsink.

Guaranteed it's what this guy said. It will be on fine. It's a little hot, but nothing to worry about.

Like I said, GPU area isn't my niche. I thought dual gpu on one PCB would get hot... mighty hot by the looks of it. Still, Graphics cards can handle it. Liquid cooling could be a good option if you fancied it. Add the CPU into the loop while your at it :)

I hope you haven't reseated before reading this. If you have, again... Sorry! It was late.

I didn't remount the heatsink thankfully I came to the forums first :)

I did run prime 95 for almost 12 hours

Temps are 60-62 on full load even after so many hours.
As soon as I stopped prime95 they dropped to 41-43 in just seconds
So its probably the orientation the heat sink is attached

Just a quick question mate.

How did you find the cooler when mounting it? Was it tricky?

As I said the only tricky part was that tall capacitors blocking the way for the heatsink mount because the stands are short other than that it was quite easy.

If i touch the heatsink it doesn't move or anything feels very solid.

Is there any program that i can use to control the fan speeds ?

I would love to try watercooling but I never done it before and don't want to have water dripping all over my case :s maybe if I try it out on my old build and then just get new blocks for my new!

As for overclocking any handy guides for sandy bridge ? would love to get my i5 2500k to 4.0ghz should be easy as i see people going all the way up to 5ghz

So I tried to overclock did a 1 hour prime95 test no crashes or slow downs or anything wierd. The temps are around 70-74 is that too hot? whats the max safe temp for a 24/7 machine

I was wondering if it would be better to buy a H70 cpu cooler ? do those self contained water coolers actually work or is it marketing hype?
