Well I know these threads appear every day so I thought I might ask for you assistance I have kept myself out of the hardware loop to long due to exams and such like.

I have had my current build for a year or two now (details below). I am looking for a upgrade/new build to get me up to date.

Current:
Q9550 (3.8Ghz Stock)
4Gb Corsair Dominators
Evga 780i M-Board
Evga 9800 GTX+ SSC edition
2 loops of water-cooling (one on cpu 240+120rad one on gfx 240rad)
2x 320gb WD Blacks raid 0(although one is currently dead)
1x 640gb WD Black (Main/os) atm.
Creative sound card elite pro.
2 monitors 24+22

I was wondering if its worth upgrading anything or a completely new build would sort it. If it had to build new I think I would have about £1000, maybe stretch to £1500 if I could warrant the extra money.

Regards
Andrew

What PSU do you have?

Looking at your existing spec, a SSd and a GFX upgrade is all you need along with a overclock of that CPU. Then just wait for Sandybridge-E or Ivybridge.

Something like a 64/120GB Crucial M4 SSD and a GTX570 will give you a big performance boost.

Overclock the Q9550 by adding a performance heatsink if you don't already have one.

Then just wait for a more meaningful upgrade than swapping to a i5 2500K setup.
