Hi Guys,

I use my pc for gaming, games development and have multiple apps open ie
unity, photoshop, max and firefox and it chugs like a mofo.

I'm finally looking to get a new pc and my current build is real old :

Core2Duo xxx
ati 5850
2gb of ram
win xp

I have around £1500 to spend (can stretch if needed) and would like a system to last a good few years with the option to add more ram and upgrade my gfx down the line if needed. I want to go down the intel/nvidia route too ie fast cpu cpu and gfx

I don't need a monitor, keyboard or mouse and won't really salvage my old pc's parts as i'll still use it for testing projects.

All help much appreciated. Thanks

I have xp but was looking at going to win 7. I'm really not a fan of win 8 unless someone can convince me otherwise.

A new PC get it with Windows 8.1 its not that bad as people make out and it will be nipper than Windows 7. Plus when Windows 10 or whatever its called comes out if you can upgrade for free and it has gone back to using the start menu.

as for a PC if you dont want to build it yourself how about this

Plenty of ram and you could always chuck in another 970

I did look at this system as an option (haven't built a system in years but possibly can do one from scratch) and do like it.

I was thinking of having 32gb of ram (4x8) instead of the (4x4) and getting the 5930k cpu as this year I want to be very productive with my projects etc

4x8 will cause issues in the future should you wish to upgrade, you're using all your slots up immediately, meaning that if you want more RAM, you can't.

Thanks, I like the parts you've recommended. Hoping some others chime in to help me finally make up my mind. Think I'll stick to 16gb after reading up more and if I'd really need it.

I'm now think I would like a new 1440p monitor too. 27 inch upwards.

Just noticed the 850Evo is on offer, so unless something awesome appears on the today only offer in the morning, the spec above and SSD look great:)

The case you linked to comes with a free seidon water cooler to cool the CPU.

Its not as big as the H105 but as long as you do not overclockers the CPU it should handle the temperatures OK.

I may eventually OC so looks like I'm gonna go with original basket, thanks and thankyou FredFlint.

Ok, think I can stretch to this. Yes, I looked at your current system FredFlint lol

Oh oops how to post my basket?
