Hello all, I am here as a newbie and decided to share my new PC build.

The last time I built a PC it had a 6600gt graphics card and a AMD athlon xp 3200. Things have changed since then!

After doing my homework on the new bits of kit I have never seen, I have concluded that this build is near perfection.

EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC ACX 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor

Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Corsair CS550M 550W Semi-Modular 80+ GOLD Certified Power Supply

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM

Zalman Z3-Plus Midi-Tower - White

Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler

END

I am sure there is something missing...So I welcome advice and comments on this new rig, I have a budget of 800 and this pc is now at 750.

Thanks!

P.S

This computer will be using my tv as a monitor through a HDMI cable, the tv is 42 inch full lcd led ready for the hud type of telly. Not sure how this will work with this rig...

Change the Z87 board for a Z97 one.

Swap the Ram for something faster 2133/2400 etc.

Swap the psu for something decent such as superflower.

The Akasa cooler might not fit in that case. The cooler is 164mm tall and the case is only 192mm wide. I can't find the max cpu cooler height so I can't say for sure.

Ok so I have changed the ram, CPU cooler, power supply and the board as listed above.

however, is the radeon card really better than the 760?
I will certainly consider a ssd too. Other than loading the operating system, what other benefits do they provide?

Also can I run this machine on a 42inch full he led tv?

Personally i would wait for the begining of June and go with the new unlocked 4690K (replaces the 4670K) codenamed Devils Canyon. These cpu's have better TIM and should clock better and run cooler. Current Haswells seem to be very poor clockers.

Prices on the already released non K series cpu's are very similar so hopefully the K series will follow this trend. If you are not going to overclock it then why even bother with a K series? A 4690 (already released and replaces the 4670) is faster and cheaper than the 4670K.

interesting

So you are suggesting it is a better option for me to buy the 4690 rather than the 4670K, as I won't be overclocking?

This works well as the 4690 is cheaper, but is it faster at stock compared to the 4670k at stock?

Yes. Why pay a premium for a feature you won't be using? The 4670k is 3.4ghz stock, 3.8Ghz turbo. The 4690 is 3.5Ghz stock, 3.9Ghz turbo so you would be gaining a extra 100mhz while spending less.

Ok I am going to start buying bits here and the starting with the case, When I selected a case i really had no idea, I just selected one willy nily.

Can anyone recommend a good case for 40-50 pounds?

I am more into functionality over looks. Something which has good cooling is also important, so, well placed fans.

the bitfenix case looks good

In that price bracket the Bitfenix Shinobi is probably the best bet. For a tenner less there is the Aerocool VS-9 Advance. People frown on them as a brand name but they do have very good cooling capabilities. I have a Aerocool Mechatron, and while it's not everyones cup of tea i like it and think it's a great case. It have modded it and it now has 3x 200mm fans!! The best bit is i only paid £25 for it in the MM.

If you want anything better you would need to add at least another £20-30 to the budget.
