Well guys, I built a new rig around two weeks ago and I have one or two issues.

Spec is - I7-6700k, MSI Gaming Pro Carbon, 16gb DDR4 3200mhz, GTX 980ti (EVGA FTW) and an 840 Evo Samsung. All running on Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

Getting mouse lag, as in moving the mouse and the cursor will stall in one place for a second and then jump forward, almost like it is catching on something on the screen, this manifests in games also (Arma 3, aiming is stuttering and Kerbal when rotating camera)

Second is a high pitched noise on the Ethernet port under load and I can hear the SSD in operation with a similar high pitched noise.

Extremely frustrated having spent around 1600 on this rig, any help?

I know with my old corsair cx750m under load I used to get very slight coil whine from my GPU but since fitting the XFX its silent at all times.

I would try PSU

PSU should be OK however a PSU tester or a check on the socket load at the wall would confirm.

It sounds like capacitor squeal around the mobo somewhere which is annoying.

Are all the PSU leads securely fixed at the motherboard?

Try re-seating the GPU and memory.

Try removing memory.

Try swapping leads over for the GPU and the SATA.

What overclock are you using? CPU? GPU?

Try altering voltages.

Mouse works in different system perfectly, zero issue.

Undertook a windows reinstall, mouse lagged and froze so badly I had to use a keyboard to get through the initial install menu in Windows.

Before doing windows reinstall took out GPU, used the on board graphics, same issue.

In the middle of cleaning cpu and cooler, no bent pins in board.

Had a similar instance with this issue, Msi board then too, inclined to believe the board is faulty.

Sound like you could have a duff motherboard, maybe a problem with voltage regulation somewhere that's causing the high pitched noise and the other issues.

Noise under load for me was the 980Ti, sound is deceiving so possibly a bit of coil whine in the new build... Doesnt explain the lag issues though (as its not a 'fault' so to speak). usually comes from the right hand side of the card if it is that.

Possible issue with the USB drivers/ports if you've tried others?

BIOS flashed to latest, tried in all different usb ports.

Also have a high pitched whine on the Ethernet port under load.

Thanks for the feedback guys, most appreciated.

Rather embarrassingly, after starting the RMA process, I swapped out the mouse and lo and behold the issue stopped.

Still getting some whine on heavy ethernet load and file transfers (from drive to drive).

I am going to keep the board and buy another, using the current board for any troubleshooting in the future.

lol I have one of those, they are designed mainly to be used with laptops where you are no more then 30cm away from the receiver, anything more then a meter and they are no good.
