New Build - any good?

I think that the rx 9070 xt is great value for money anx not noticably slower than a 5080 in many cases.
That was my original thought. But a few people suggested the 5080 was a step up. This will need to last me a fair few years and I am lucky enough to have the money now. So I tried a new build based on that. Knowing me, likely overkill!

Looks like the Asus ROG STRIX B850 is available, so have swapped that in. Seems ok?

One thing - have tried a few other sites and their configure tools always ask if I want a soundcard. No mention of it here. I'm assuming it should all be ok?

Just under £2,800

Nice build, I assume the 2TB ssd's you are going to use as storage drives? In which case PCIE 4.0 might be overkill and not see much or any benefit over a 3.0 drive. Not sure what the price differences are currently however.

You're right. The second drive will be mostly for music and photos. But I just used the config tool and that was the cheapest option at 2TB.

Onboard is fine for most users. You'll normally be aware already if it is not.

About the Strix, you're aware the -A model is usually white, right?

I was a little surprised when I saw it! I just picked what seemed the best option on the config tool. That said, it is tucked away under my desk, so I won't see it anyway. Appreciate you pointing it out though!

Sorry to be that arse hole but that is crazy money for that spec. Shocked!

It was an eye opener. But that is just across the board? Looked at a few other places and they sat around same cost. So I'm hoping your comment is a lament at prices in general - not that I'm making a huge blunder!?

You could swap at least one of the drives for the WD Black SN850X 2TB, same price but the SN850X has DRAM cache so does not rely on system RAM.

The price does include the build cost, which does seem a bit high.

Can you not build the PC yourself, would save a lot of money?

With current RAM prices and availability that's slowly becoming less the case unfortunately.

Putting together a similar 5080 build using stock on the website while including W11 comes to over £2400 from a quick throw together, I can see that becoming much worse over the next few weeks too.

£2800 for a 5080 build..blimey... manufacturers really milking us gamers for everything at mo

Insane. I built a pretty much identical PC in March but with a 9070 XT for 1700quid. Hell i just build a rig for my son for 1460quid with a 7800x3d and 9070XT 2TB, 32gb ram. No way id pay almost 3k for that!!!!
