New build boot problems

Hi,

After putting all the components together from my order from OcUK, i cannot get the pc to boot.

The motherboard is screwed down with a screw in every hole. I havent used the red fibre washers in any of the holes.

I have tried disconnecting each one of the RAM modules to see if one of them was causing a problem.

I have tried to boot the pc with each one of the components attached to the motherboard unplugged (hard-drive, CDDrive, and video card) but still get the same problem -

I have a few green and orange lights on the motherboard for about 20seconds then they all go out and then nothing.

I have also tried removing the mobo from the case and attempting a boot with the mobo on the floor next to the case. While it was outside the case, i even tried a different PSU.

The odd thing is, in the very first boot, i saw the splash screen for the motherboard for a couple of seconds, then it went off, havent been able to get it back since.

I may be missing something blindingly obvious here, but any help wouldbe greatly appreciated

Dean

sounds like a dodgy board to me, possible capacitor failure. I'm no expert in this area though, but if you've tried a different PSU it could well be faulty.

I'm not sure if resetting the CMOS would do anything to help, perhaps worth a try.

Edit < have you reseated the CPU and cooler?>
