Hey all,

Might be a bit of a long shot, but we're trying to get a dishwasher and can't figure out the cupboard situation...

House is a newbuild (Barratt Homes Helmsley for what it's worth) and we've been here 2 years or so. We were told that the kitchen is already prepared for a dishwasher to replace one of the cupboards. There is clearly a spare water and waste feed for it alongside the washing machine and we've been told which cupboard it should replace, but we can't figure out how to get the cupboard out...

The site manager guy told us that after you remove the door there are a couple of screws hidden under the hinges, and he's right; there are... but he implied that after you undo those the cupboard should slide right out, and unless we're being really thick it just plain doesn't... Have looked all around the inside of it for other screws/catches/etc which might help but can't see anything...

Has anybody done a similar operation or can suggest anything to try?

There are usually another set towards the back in the same sort of place. Occasionally there is also a fixing along the top attaching it to the work surface.

Also use the adjustment in the legs to lower the unit to make it easier.

Thanks for the responses, got it sorted now:

There were a couple of screws going into the worktop so I undid those, and I tried unscrewing the feet a bit; at that point the cabinet felt a lot looser but only on one side... After looking everywhere for quite a while we ended up pulling the oven out and there were 4 more screws going into the cabinet hidden in the oven cavity.

So yeah - good job Barratt - dead easy (I suppose it wasn't that difficult to actually do, but they could have made it a lot easier).

Cheers again - dishwasher arriving tomorrow!
