New build - FAIL!

right! im getting somewhere!!! I do apolgise i was reading the manual, the black n white one so i didnt see that i was putting the power button etc in the wrong place, got the colour one out of box and put it in the coloured slots, it now turns on... and stays on! all fans work, cpu, cooling fans and the GPU fan, BUT.. it is now saying Check signal cable on my monitor, ... it cant be a dead gfx card its brand new and seems to be working fine but I dont have onboard gfx on the Motherboard to see if that works?? any suggestions? motherboard seems to be working ok though.

yeah, it clicked in there nicely, with 2 6pin power connecters, this is really starting to pee me off lol, would have hoped to have had crysis on the gaming list tonight :( its weird though because ive been reading a lot about graphic cards that have died, and they say the onboard fan doesnt spin, but mine does and it generating some heat to.. could it be down to the motherboard, and if it was the case why are my case fans spinning along with the cpu spinning aswell. could it still be faulty?

If you've got no spares to test with, or a mate to test your components with, then I fear you're pretty much screwed.

i have got a feeling it is the MOBO, as the psu seems to be of good quality, I have another £100 budget.. can you please spec me a decent mobo supporting my processor (E400) 45nm. a cheap dvd/cd drive. and a decent set of 2x2gb ram sticks (800Mhz)

EDIT**

I did accidently push hard on the mobo without the spacers and did hear a slight crack but dont know what it was so i pressume its that lol!

I wouldnt just go ahead and waste money on another MOBO myself if its powering up okay :S...
Make sure you've got the gfx in the top PCI-EX slot, make sure both power connectors are inserted properly, and try again...

right, I made sure both 6 pin power on gfx card, its in the top slot,BUT NOW i have a different problem which leads me to think its the motherboard..

It now turns on... for about 20 - 30 seconds then turns off?? i tried pressing ctrl alt del on keyboard n that seemed to restart it and the lights on keyboard work... new mobo *** then? as it shouldnt turn off like that.

EDIT***

just taken both sticks off ram out and it hasnt turned off, still a black screen.. but hasnt turned off? wtf lol

have also read that if the ram isnt compatible with motherboard there will be no output so thats maybe why my monitor is in standby mode? new ram then possibly?

And for the beeps, i cant hear them as i dont know where the case Speaker 4pin connecter goes, I have an audio one for headphones etc but the system speaker is new to me, any ideas

not trying to be rude m8 but why not take it to some one who has built a pc befor and let them show you how to do it and double check every thing (this is intended in the nicest way m8) because it seems to me you havent got a clue what you are doing tbh.

at first you fitted mobo without spacers, you dont know where the speaker wire goes etc etc.

please dont take it the wrong way but i realy would seek some one who has built a pc befor.

good luck m8ty.

Hey D.Roberts

I have built a pc before, it was a core 2 duo 3.0ghz, 8800 ultra 500gb hd and I had no problem, worked perfectly.

This time however it just doesnt seem to be working, the fans spin etc, the speaker is the only thing that is buggin me, i just cant find a 4 pin connection on the board for it?? at least then i could find out if it beeps or not,

weather it works or not, im gonna buy a new board and compatible ram, as the ram could be effecting it as it runs at 1066ghz and the board supports only upto 800mhz, apparently the board doesnt support the new E400 processor either.

So im going to buy a Micro Atx board this time as they seem good and have lots of good reviews as long as you dont overclock on them and im getting OCZ 4GB 800mhz ram. the motherboard im getting also has onboard graphics so ill find out if it is a dodgy graphics card I got, if it is then i will send it back but tbh that seems to be working ok as far as generating heat and fan spinning

one last thing, the motherboard seems to be abit on the bent side if you know what I mean doesnt seem completly flat? could this of been because I forced the MB to hard onto the case without spacers? I know stupid mistake, its been 2years since I last built one, its only after I screwed the mb onto the case I saw the Spacers and thought.. OH CRAP!
what you think?

any luck fixing it?

i say again RMA it first, if it dont work again youll know it isnt the mobo. you can then sell that and recoup some money for a different mobo. best case scenario the replacement RMA mobo works only costing you postage and some time.

Hi mate, na ive left it for now, i know you say to RMA it but i will buy a new mobo and psu anyway, going for coolermaster 460watt rather than the cheap crappy 850w powercool i have now, i know its not as powerfull but it will run my 260gtx. so if that dont fix it ill RMA the graphic card :-)

No spacers.

Too much pressure / crack noise.

Incompatible components.

Have you ever thought of working for a major high street PC retail chain?:D
