i7 4770K (No OC)
Asus Z87 Deluxe/Dual
Corsair H100i
Corsair Carbide 540
Creative ZxR Audio
[Re-using]
4x4GB Corsair XMS 1600MHz (1.65V)
Corsair AX 1200W
HD 6990
SSDs
Everything went ok during Hardware stage, and Windows stage.
However, Prime95 caused errors on certain threads under the hardest setting (only 2 out of 8 of the worker threads remained active).
I headed to BIOS to verify the settings, and noted that XMP was active, but was using my RAM at it's quoted speed 1600MHz, 1.65V, as per it's profile.
I then turned off XMP and the RAM dropped to 1333MHz. Re-ran Prime95 *currently in background now* and has passed everything for the past 50mins so far. (the errors previously happened after 2mins).
What could be the issue with the RAM being unable to run at it's profile? - XMP had the RAM at 1.65V too, as they should be.
Additionally, when it came to install the Creative ZxR, the audio has anomalies. Namely, the sound slows down for a brief second. In normal sound it sounds like distortion, but when there is speech, it sloooooowsss it down. This happens with music, sound, vocals, speech and windows sounds. Latest drivers from Creative too, and tried different PCI-E slots. It also swaps my 5.1 speakers around when this error occurs (so Front Left, becomes Centre... and Rear Left becomes front Left etc).
Any ideas on this? I'm tempted to just RMA.
Also, in the interests of eking a bit of life out of my HD 6990 (until the next series comes along) i've installed the Acellero Twin Turbo on the 6990 card. Seems to work nicely, and so far, stable in FurMark for 15mins with a mild OC (all i've had time to test so far).
