Hi All
Having seen the barebones offering using the H55 based motherboard and my wish to use the i5 750 it makes more sense to use a P55 board such as one of the mATX Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2. Chucking at it say at least 4GB of RAM
Right the main usage will be photoediting (and maybe over time some Video NLE work) so I ideally want space for 4 HDDs (OS, scratch, and two for data) but I really want to keep the case size as small as possible though with good cooling especially for the HDDs. I have W7 and plan to install the 64bit version and for "office" I have MS Office SBE ready.
Though I have yet to get Adobe Photoshop CS4 (still running CS2 for now) but that now has graphic card recommendation of which I prefer the nVidia flavour :-
List Adobe give that have been tested (?):-
nVidia geForce
nVidia 260 GTX 896MB
nVidia 9800 GTX 512MB
nVidia 9600 GT 512MB
nVidia 8800 GTX 768MB
nVidia 8800 GT 512MB
nVidia 8600M 256MB
nVidia 7900 GTX 512MB
nVidia 7900 GS 256MB
nVidia 7800 GTX 256MB
nVidia 7600 256MB
nVidia 6800 256MB
nVidia Quadro
Quadro FX 4600 768 MB
Quadro FX 4500 512MB
Quadro FX 4400 512MB
Quadro FX 3700 512MB
Quadro FX 3500 256MB
Quadro FX 1700 512MB
Quadro FX 1500 256MB
Quadro FX 1400 -128MB
Quadro FX 570 -256MB
Quadro FX 370 256MB
I have yet to check the specs but for future proof of having a second monitor a dual DVI output would be great. If the card has two LUT so that each monitor can be independantly calibrated then again an added benefit
So based on your experience please advise me what case may meet the criteria of as small as possible with good ventilation/cooling and what about the Gigabyte board??? Oh and what about a nice robust quiet PSU with enough grunt for the HDDs, motherboard & CPU, DVD drive (might upgrade in future to a BluRay?), 4GB of RAM, graphics card et al.
I look forward to any feedback & user experience of specific components you might be able to offer.
TIA for the insight
