I've just finished building my new PC. It's been a while since I last built a PC so I'm a bit rusty on my knowledge. The computer is fine and boots successfully but there's a few things I want to check if they're normal. Specs are below:-
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS5 P45
Intel Q6600
Corsair 2GB XMS2 PC2-6400
Samsung F1 1TB
ATI Radeon 8570
ASUS Xonar D2
1. The computer seems to take quite while from pushing the power button to completing the POST. It's takes like 15-20s where as my old computer does it in under 10. No errors are displayed so I can't see why it must take so long.
2. The HDD always shows up as slave. It's connected via SATA along with the DVD drive which also shows up as slave. Does it matter which SATA port they're plugged into? The ICH10R controller has 6 ports but I had to use 3-4 as 1-2 were unusable due to the direction they faced. I can't remember if this doesn't apply to SATA and is just reminants of the IDE interface but I just wanted to check.
3. For some reason the system case temp reading while idle in the BIOS is like 40c (with case side removed) yet the CPU is only around 30c. I'm guessing it's just one of the components is heating up the air around the sensor.
4. Is it normal for the Xonar D2 to run quite hot? After just 5 minutes it becomes almost hot enough not to touch.
I'd appreciate any answers.
Thanks.
