New build for around £3k

So, it’s been about 5 years since I built my last PC, in that time I’ve updated the GPU once and changed my air cooler for an AIO. It’s served me well but it’s time for an upgrade as I think it’s going to struggle with some of the new games on the way and I’ve been having more and more issues with it.

Here’s my current system:
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97
TeamGroup Vulcan 8GB DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz
EVGA 980Ti FTW
EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Corsair CW-9060019-WW Hydro H110i GT 280mm

I feel like the PSU can be reused and I’ve got 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs to bring over so those things I don’t need to buy. I could bring the AIO with me if needs be but I’m not the biggest fan of how it looks. I’ve got screens, keyboard and mouse etc so I’m looking for CPU, Mobo, RAM, GPU, AIO Cooler. I’m pretty much decided on building it in a Lian Li PC-O11 DYNAMIC.

I use my PC to game mainly, I play at 1440p and I play a few different kinds of games (The Division and Division 2, Destiny 2, Anthem, Civilization, Cities). I’d also like to be able to create a few videos here and there, nothing serious, more as a hobby (my current rig has had so many problems with this I gave up completely). My budget is around the £3k mark.

This is what I have so far:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,328.09 (includes shipping: £13.20)

I’m pretty sure it makes most sense to complete that with a 2080Ti, but I’m not sure which one. I’ve been really happy with my EVGA 980Ti FTW and I know they do a 2080 Ti version but it doesn’t look like OC have them in at the moment. I also thought if I’m going with Gigabyte mobo and RAM then going with them for the GPU also made sense but there’s a few to choose from (including one with an AIO which I’m sure sounds better than it actually is).

I’m just looking for some advice to help me make my final decisions please. Also, I’m aware there’s new stuff from AMD on its way but unless it’s going to be a massive improvement on what I’ve selected I’m fine with buying now vs waiting.

Cheers.

better CLC/AIO unit - phanteks halo digital RGB to link in with the mobo

Hi

That list looks ok. You could go with a cheaper cooler such as the Alphacool Eisbaer LT 360 or BeQuiet Silent Loop 360mm.

You will also want some extra case fans as I don't think you get any with that version of the PC-O11.

I would stick with Gigabyte for the gpu. The 2080 ti Gaming OC is in stock for more reasonable money.

Yea I'll tackle fans myself once I've decided on the main components.

So other than say personal preference there's nothing really wrong with what I posted?

How does the Asus ROG line up of components compare with the Gigabyte ones I selected? Just trying to gauge if there's big differences between the stuff similarly priced or is all much the same? For example how do these compare:

Total: £1,777.08 (includes shipping: £11.10)

vs

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Cheers

Google buildzoid.
Asus didn't do so well with their boards this time around. Pretty much did what Gigabyte / Aorus did with z370 line up . Even sticking to the Ultra has a better PCB design and you'll get WiFi for £50 cheaper

Also Aorus is UK RMA based and the Aorus card is 4 years warranty .

I would go with the Gaming OC as you still get the 4 year warranty. Not sure the Aorus versions is worth an extra £169. I would say that money could be better spent somewhere else on the system.

with newer pump version

According to Steve from Gamers Nexus, based on their own tests and the thermal engineers they've spoken with, the 6th Gen pump's cooling performance is slightly behind the 5th Gen. Which might explain why the NZXT X62 280mm in silent mode matches the Corsair H150i 360mm in performance mode according to most reviews. Apparently the 6th Gen was not an attempt to extract better cooling performance but to incorporate Asetek's own RGB stuff.

This was the video that had me pick the Kraken. He basically said it came down to personal choice as they were all pretty even.

It seems like the build I posted was fine then, I just need to pick which 2080Ti to go with and then decide on fans.

Yeah, performance-wise very little. And you could go with X62 to save money although wouldn't look as nice in that Lian Li. However, Orb's got a point about customer service. Corsair is very good at it. Then again, NZXT offers an extra year of warranty.

asstek really needs to match alphacool/ekwb and swiftech !!!!

luckily corsair fans push a lot of static pressure for the high PFI and seems NZXT have improved their fans to

hopefully as well increase the ID a bit , really surprised they havent kicked a copper version , even with aluminum for the fins since technically alumin disperses heat better then copper . would least keep some costs down
