Newbie I'm afraid, please help. I am a VBA developer and need a pc to do a lot of grind but also the day to day jobs for the family as well.

Loads of speed and loads of power, needs a monitor as well but only has to be 19 inch or so. Sounds silly I like my gear to look quite sheek for the want of a better word lol. Budget is approx £600 ish, can anyone help???

Thanks

Mini

At a little bit over your budget you could get something like this:

Intel Core i5-2300 2.80GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £143.99

Samsung B2230H 21.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black £119.99

Gigabyte H67M-UD2H-B3 Intel H67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £84.98

Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - Home Premium 64 Bit £68.40

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache WD10EALX - OEM £44.99

BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £39.98

Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £39.98

Sony Optiarc AD-7260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.59

Total : £625.01 (includes shipping : £20.10).

But that's if your not gonna be gaming at all, as there's no graphics card so you'll be using integrated graphics.

This link shows benchmarks of the integrated graphics of the i5-2400 which is the same as the i5-2300 (HD2000)

Hi,

I'm looking to do a lot of VS2010+SQL Server work (Silverlight, WPF, Cloud stuff) and am in the process of specc'ing a machine for £500-600ish (so room for you to add a monitor with a few changes to the spec).

Good advice on my thread here: clicky
