Hi,

I'm having some problems with a new build (if I've left out any important info, let me know!).

Base Machine Spec:

Intel E2180 @ 3.3Ghz w/Arctic Freezer 7
GA P35 DS4 rev 2.0 F7 BIOS
2GB OCZ OCZ2P800R22GK
X850XT PE
Antec Earthwatts 500W

Temps Idle 29/33
Temps Load 57/60

Orthos - Blend Test OK after 8hrs
SuperPI - OK 32M
3DMark - OK

The Problem:

I built the base system. Installed XP SP2 and ran mem tests at stock settings. All OK.

Then started doing some OC'ing. System would boot fine, get into Windows and run stress-tests no problem. Temps + Voltages all ok. Played some games, did some work and figured all was sweet and a nice OC :)

Then a couple days later on a cold boot the fans started, stopped, started, stopped, one quick beep and then POST showed stock speed. Went into BIOS and all settings of my OC remained - apart from the CPU Host Clock Control = DISABLED

I changed it back to ENABLED, saved, machine did the same "fans started, stopped, started, stopped, one quick beep and then POST showed stock speed".

This went on for about 10mins, then it suddenly decided to stick at the OC settings! :)

It's happened a couple times (on cold boots) since. I emailed Giga-Byte support and they said they can't do anything :(

Any suggestions?

This happend to me as well(i got the same mobo)
It means it dont like the overclock you have done,so it resets the CPU HOST to normal.

Try running at a lower CPU speed. What are your volts on your CPU ?

Also can you do me a favour? Can you look to see if your Sata 2 HD is running in Mode 6 please.

As my Version 1 DS4 wont go into Mode 6 and Gigabyte have asked me to RMA it..

Where do I find that out?

RE Voltage:

Right click on My computer icon then select properties, then hardware, then device manager
Then you will see IDE ATA/ATAPI comtrollers...primary IDE

Have you tried putting your mem to 1:1 in the bios ?
It called system memory multilier set that to 2.00
Under M T I Tweaker in the bios
If you cant see that option..on the main bios screen press Ctrl+F1 at the same time..

Also you could go here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=142340

loads of info there...let us know how you get on..

Its the mode your HD will run at.

Like my WD3200AAKS should run at Mode 6 (faster burst mode)but it wont.
But it will go into Mode 6 if I use the gigabyte Sata ports.

It should still run ok and transfer files fast, but i am just picky about the Mode 6

EDIT did you run your ram at 1:1?
is it ok?
