Hey guys I'm building a new rig and I'm buying it today hopefully. I'd like to help me chose the ram and the optical drive , am buying also the WIN 7 64 bit Edition
Here is my spec :)

What do you think? Which is the best ram for the mobo and cpu. I want max performance if possible .... and the optical drive which one ?

Another thing what is the diff between these two :

Does the retail have 32 and 64 bit within it.... Which is the one to go with I want 64 bit system !

I'm am gonna buy it today because the case is a TWO offer and its an aweeessommmee case :P .....

Thanks for the help NEW MEMBER :P

Both OEM and retail come with both discs for 32 and 64 bit, as above retail version can be moved from one system to another (still only on one system at a time) OEM version is tied to the PC you initially install it on (basically you can upgrade most things just not the mobo)

I dont find much in optical drives tbh, though a retail optical drive does come with software such as nero or cyberlink suite which can be handy if you dont already have

Of the RAMs you listed the GSkill stuff is best as it has a lower CAS or latency

You might benefit from reading the thread in my sig

The G Skill has 7-7-7(something else, i forgot :)) timings, so they are faster, but hardly noticeable really.

You definitely want AMD?

You can get i5 for same price with MSi GD65!

Yeah i want AMD m8 .... Never had an amd system in my life :P ubt my unlike has one and it's not bad...Yeah of course intel are way better .... I like intel more ... but now i got my mind set on AMD :)

tbh that case is overkill for the current system you have selected, perhaps at most get a stacker (Coolermaster Stacker £119ish)

OEM 64Bit I'd assume
My advice:

Stick with the Obsidian RAM
Pioneer DVD Drive
Swap the Caviar Black out for an F3 1Tb

You also need a power supply on top of that which is listed

Yeah of course intel are way better .... I like intel more ... but now i got my mind set on AMD :)

That makes no sense what so ever.

In a while, once you have bought all your components, assembled your system, developed a greater knowledge of things, you will be kicking yourself wishing you had gone i5.

I'm not a fan boy, but for that price range you will receive better performance.

New Samsung drives are out, which may be worth a look also, the F3.

I dont know what peoples obsession with intel is, obviously their marketing dept are doing good job

Just to prove the point re gaming performance look at the chart below, at low res where its cpu dependant then yeah i5/i7 beats AM3, however at higher res where the game becomes gpu dpependant the new i5/i7s actually nose dive and end up performing worse than AM3 and even old 775. Seen as how most people game at around 1920x1200 nowadays for a purely gaming system its not hard to argue the merits of AM3
