new build help NO POST/NOTHING

Hey guys,

Built up my new system, powers up ok now with the different mobo ECS p965 one, and no matter what i seem to do the system will not post and will not display anything on the screen..

other components
geil 2gb pc6400 value i think
c2d 4300
x1950 pro

Where should i start to trouble shooot, i tried without ram in, one stick in etc.

hmmm, i had similar prob, worst scenario was gfx card had gone, everything sounded ok, no error beeps on start up
id try your gfx card in another PC, see if it works

If i pull the gfx card out, should it give some kind of beeps

Yeah it should beep indicating a graphics card problem if there is no graphics card installed you woulda thought.

If you get no beeps with the gfx in then it might be the processor that is faulty if it isn't the motherboard.

Given that its an ECS board, make sure the CMOS jumper is in the 'run' position as these sometimes ship with it set to clear. Also, try clearing the CMOS if you haven't already.

Well, the first mobo i bought is faulty don't tell me my 4300 is borked to

replaced the power supply, replaced motherboard, and i am still not posting.. something tells me it was not the mobo after all!
