Hey there guys. Ive bin inactive for a while, but the time has come for a new build, lots of changes i see in tech since i was last active so thats where y problem is.

My current system is shocking and mobo dead:
P4 3.00Ghz
Asus P48**** Somthing anyway
1GB of slow ram
6800GS 256 AGPx8

I have around £500 to spend on:
CPU, MoBo, Ram, GFX Card, HDD, Case and a PSU (if the case dnt come with one)

I have been looking at either a Pentium D 3.4Ghz or a Athlon X2 AM2 2.00Hgz

I currently use my PC for Web/Graphics work and did use it for gaming until my MoBo died a few months ago (its not bin the same since) I dont think the budget will push for SLi but would like the option to go SLi in a later stage.

I looked into changing my MoBo but sadly there is very few places that still sell 478skt P4 Mobos and it would mean buying more RAM, which would then mean havign to buy a new GFX card and drives. SO might as well just do a new build.

Cheers guys I know you can spec me something, it might be a bit of a challenge for you. :p

This might do you, you have a dual core CPU, 2gb Ram, a solid (if slightly unexceptional now) graphics card and a quick hard drive plus it should overclock also if needed. :)

Wow guys you are good lol, Ill have a wee think about it all, gonne be a few weeks till I order, i could maybe push the budget up to £600. Like I asked before what can i OC a 1.83 C2D on stock cooling. then again even stock would be faster than my current P4 LOL

On Stock cooling with a E4300 I think you might be able to get up to around 2.6ish. After that though you are going to need an after-market cooler for definate. I was using the stock cooler for my E6600 with no overclock and I decided to change it, they are pretty noisy and the temperatures were nothing to cheeer about, it all depends on the chip, and airflow inside the case too as to whether its going to be able to reach different speeds. But the motherboard, RAM that I have suggested would allow excellent overclocks.
