I posted before regarding help with a build i am just wanting to change a few things up.

My budget ideally will be £1300 i will want it to handle most current gen games on high settings running at 1080 with minimum 60fps for most games.
I have my eyes on a 144hz monitor.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers for the reply just a quick question how does the 1060 handle current games and will i be able keep the gpu for say a year and a half to 2 years before upgrading it?

1060 handle current games
absolutely fine for 1080p gaming
gpu for say a year and a half to 2 years before upgrading it
yes, of course for future games you'll have to turn the settings down a bit. but not a big issue really.
@Dervish , this:
good monitor for the price - esp it's a 144hz panel. the 1060 won't run it at full tilt, but, good choice.

Also probably a daft question but is there anyway i can take the recommended build straight to my basket without adding each item individually.

I was told go Intel over AMD but the the person who gave me said advice hasnt really bought much hardware for the past 3 years so maybe things have changed since then.

in comparison to @ExoMale 's spec
  • lose the intel 8700k platform - which is arguably the best performing cpu today, for the amd 1600 - which is arguably the best bang-for-buck cpu/platform today
  • for the price difference, you get a better GPU - 1070 vs 1060 - which is approx 30-40% better in comparison and will therefore last longer and keep the 144hz panel honest.
  • slightly cheaper PSU, but it's based on CWT PUQ platform (a slightly older design, but really isn't bargain basement)
  • 500gb samsung SSD a better performing, larger sized, (and arguably more reliable) SSD
  • exo's 8700k build is ITX, so the footprint is slightly smaller in comparison to my MATX build. (but if it matters, mine has RGB lighting :p)
the trade off is that my build offers performance where it counts now, whereas the 8700k in exo's build offers slightly greater flexibility for upgrade in the future (owing to its more powerful processor)

Yeah this has been such a ballache trying to decide what to get for the past few weeks as this will be my first pc, from console gaming. But i like the sound of having thr 1070 in favour of the AMD.

@Dervish it depends on how likely you are to upgrade the gpu within the next 2 years.
if you definitely will, then get the intel build - as the first thing to get upgraded is usually the GPU.
but if you're thinking that you'll only upgrade 3-4 years down the line, then the 1600+1070 build will have longer legs imo.
of course these are opinions only, so anybody please feel free to disagree

also, one thing i forgot to mention if you're going with the intel build is that intel does not give a stock heatsink with their -k cpu. so you'll need to budget for that as well. ( @ExoMale and @Dervish )
@Dervish whereas amd stock heatsinks are pretty good and decent enough for a slight overclock

I like the idea of the 1070 AMD plus i imagine i will be playing a lot of older games. Dragon age, masd effect pubg and overwatch so should suffice i imagine.

@Dervish either spec will suit you fine. also re: PUBG, it's incredibly unoptimised at the moment: see https://www.pcgamer.com/best-pubg-settings/ for benchmarks.
PUBG is currently less optimised for ryzen 1600. but either way a 1600+1070 will run it fine (avg fps stil gonna be >60fps at 1080p/ultra)

no, unfortunately. will come in components. have a friend willing to help?
pc building is not so difficult - lots of youtube guides around.
(it's the troubleshooting if it doesn't work that is the main problem - but if you have someone computer hardware savvy then that's less of an issue)

Aye i cant say i am totally confident in building i am not the most hands on savvy guy, it may be back to the drawing board and find something prebuilt.

prebuilt. windows included.
cheaper monitor, but still a 75hz panel. also has IPS panel (rather than TN panel for the 144hz monitor) for better image quality
lose the 1070 for the 1060 though, unfortunately :(

i didnt like the look of the case, so the one specced is actually this case:
it's a pretty basic case, and doesn't quite lend itself to upgrading particulary well, unfortunately
