New build help required

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,480.93 (includes shipping: £28.02)

Get the 3000 MHz memory. Ryzen gets faster performance with faster ram.
Also I personally wouldn't run a 1070 with that case ( nor power supply)

If you are now looking at a £1400-1500 build, what you could do is to quote my spec on the customer service section of the forum and ask them to do a custom quote for the computer. And ask if they will warranty the whole tower instead of you needing to troubleshoot should something go wrong

Basically just add everything into the basket individually, then make a post in the Cs section and say build me this, and how much will it cost

I am going with your previous advice dropping to the 1060 faster ram etc will post end results shortly. Cheers again for all the help.

Also probably a few stupid questions, soundcard im guessing i can just plugin headset/speakers without needing one.
Where it says wifi, can i just plug straight into my router or if i am wanting to use wireless do i need to purchase a wifi adapter

Post up your final decision for a quick once through :)

Llooks fine. Also could consider saving £50 and getting the 75hz panel instead. 1060 won't be able to take advantage of 144hz. But you'll see an image quality improvement with an ips panel :)

Aye was gonna look else where i have just cone acrose a prebuilt at a shop near wherr i live. What are your opinions on the RX580 in comparison to the gtx 1060

If you average their performance over all games, they're practically neck and neck.
However, 1060 is faster for older games whereas 580 is faster for newer games.
Note that each come in different variants.
The 1060 has a 3gb ram variant as well as a 6gb variant. Always go with the 6gb as it's slightly faster.
Same with the 580. Has a 4gb and 8gb variant. Always go with the 8gb variant.

The AMD card seems to perform better under DX12 and Vulcan, whereas the Nvidia is considerably better under DX11.

DX11 & 12 are how the games effectively communicate with the graphics card, don't worry too much about the details, older games and even the majority of brand new games are all using DX11. Most new games will allow you to select DX12 and some have Vulcan. The take up of DX12 in new games has been disappointing, I would have expected it to become the standard by now. Some games, like Rocket League, are using even older versions such as DX9.

My advice would be to take the GTX 1060. It will be more suitable in the here and now. Graphics cards tend to be swapped out more regularly. Some people change every generation, others usually skip one.

By picking the 1060 you will get great performance today and should you upgrade your monitor in future or decide to get into VR then you won't be so burnt on the original purchase price of you upgrade the card too.

I like the idea of small builds which is why I tend to spec them, unless you need sli/crossfire or whatever other features some bigger boards offer then I see no reason no to spend the little extra for the smaller footprint, certainly nicer to move about than a big tower, but that’s personal preference, but as intel is the best for gaming and you want to run at high frames and so on and to last, I went with the top end chip, had there been any stock I’d have quoted the cheaper non K i7 as it’s the same just Lacks overclocking which with a cheaper motherboard likely had gotten the 1070 to fit in the budget.

The 1060 is better than the 1050ti which is why I quoted it as the 1050 is better suited to 1080p had you not wanted to have 144hz I could’ve used the i5 and kept it cheaper, but then if you had a separate budget for monitor then you probably could’ve got away with the cheapest 1080.

Ryzen has the best balance, even in a mini itx form and all Ryzen processors overclock, but to compete well with intel for gaming top spot you need the 1700/1800 which are still below the 8700 in benchmarks or trade blows in certain areas.

As for the cooler, I wasn’t aware it didn’t include one, seems crazy not to include for this price.
