Hi Guys,

I'm looking to put together a new build gaming rig and wanted some advice from you lovely few as i haven't touched my last rig since i bought it in 2011.

Basically i want a dual purpose machine.

I'm a photographer and a gamer and want to put together a solid machine and build myself.

I want the rig to run pretty much any game available in 1080P 60FPS Ultra if possible and i intend to be able to quickly edit photos without hefty load times.

I want to run SSD for the operating system and game storage with an additional harddrive purely for photo storage as i shoot in RAW and they tend to have a huge filesize.

I dont' have a specific budget in mind however i don't want to be over zealous and purchase something when it's not required. I'm looking at the EVGA 1080 but not sure which is the best card.

Intel only please. Sorry AMD i had a bad experience and don't want to go back down that route.

Not really bothered about Watercooled as i'm clumsy and there water inside my machine and i don't really want though elements to combine.

I've decided on the Corsair 750D case too.

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking at keeping anything from your current machine? What CPU do you have now? Many older i5s and i7s, 2nd gen and up, are still pretty good by current standards.

GTX1080 would likely be overkill at 1080p, even the GTX 1070 demolishes games at 1080p

Here's a pretty good place to start. Could go for a m.2 ssd if you want even faster loading time, could also go for a bigger power supply if you think you're likely to upgrade to SLi in the future, though I tend to prefer a single card in most cases. Motherboard is a little bit showy, but hey blinky lights are all the rage at the moment.

I feel this is a pretty good bang for your buck system, but if you're staying at 1080p could save a bit of money, with something like a GTX 1060 or RX 480, and maybe an i5 rather than the i7.
