The main problems with am5 is the cost of the ram and the motherboards. You idealy want 6000 speed with as tight timings as possible to help performence but thats expensive.
This is the cheapest i can do using 6000 speed ram but its not in stock atm.

you can get 32gb kingston fury beast rgb (didn't have non so that's what it is ) 5200c38 (2*16gb) for £145 at mo..prob just as fast as 3600C16 ddr4...as you say, 6000 sweet spot and will give you better performance than ddr4
for 6000 seen the gskill 6000C36 for £185 or kingston renegade 6000C32 for £197
I'd prob choose the 7600x over 7700x though. £269 v £339 and 5800x3d is £369
12 game av for 1080p with 3090ti on HU was 218fps 7700x, 211 fps 7600x and 203 fps 5800x3d..going up to 1440p that will shrink..so 5% better with 7700x for 26% price premium(at 1080p with 3090ti)
I'd save cash and put towards a better mobo..idea of the am5 is that in a few years you drop in a new cpu without having to bother with anything else...I think 5800x3d more for those that want best performance but already have a setup...if going am4, it's cost exercise at this point so 5600 with a budget mobo makes more sense to me..
sorry..only saw OP putting 5800x3d in his build with a tuf b550 mobo..so that's £520 in just those two
Gamemax 850W psu? can i ask how much..what warranty does it have..
take it OP you're going small with the micro board etc?
sorry, nothing wrong with am4 per say(have it myself), just you're limiting your upgrade down the line...just from my personal viewpoint I guess, but need to build another pc myself soon, and no way i'd go am4 now spending £370 on a cpu unless I had existing hardware, or unless on a tight budget..
just reread post..
@dfour personally, like your 5600 build if going am4 route.
below put that ram is, as looks the same as the 5200c36 away..so just knock off £55 from price and buy other stuff...so £650..or get 6000c32 if want to spend the below...don't think that'd be too different from the 5800x3d build..maybe £30. i'd pay £30 to be abole to drop a faster cpu down the line without having to fork out for new mobo etc.
one thing would look at is some reviews of micro boards etc..go too cheap, and in future guessing newer cpu will use more power..the 3d versions on the 7000 series cpu's for example use 170w on the 7600x3d and 7700x3d/7800x3d compared to 105w for the existing line up..you don't want to get a mobo that will struggle in future
right, brain fried and 1.30 am so hitting bed...also, i know Op you said you like micro case etc, but with gpu's getting bigger all time, might want an atx case so you don't limit your future upgradeability down the line..just a thought
anyway, good luck...sure you'll get a great gaming rig either way
