when your in the audio settings in windows which device in the list is the default communication device, find the line out and manually set it as the default device and disable everything else to stop it from going back, if you struggle to find which one works just test each until you get sound.

Before I had two monitors, and that nahimic mirroring crap

Fresh Install

I had two monitors and the speaker option

I've just restarted again and now just 2 monitors

I’m at a loss, getting audio to work should not be this hard, unless the motherboard has a fault, fresh install should have wiped anything driver wise that was causing issues, but to still have problems after points to hardware being a problem.

you have 1 way to get around this and that is to buy a usb dac and plug your speakers into that then the dac into a usb port on the motherboard, the alternative is a new motherboard

Yep, I agree, MOBO is going back. I mean even after 3 days, we've got nowhere, and now we can't even see speakers as an option. I've had enough it's going back. There's no way I can buy another Gigabyte 870 or 850 after this. Probably go ASUS, 20 odd years of PC building never known anything like this and never had a MOBO issue to speak of either.

I'd just like to to thank everyone who chipped in for their efforts and patience, I think we exhaused every avenue.

:)

All up and running with B-850E Strix. The difference in quality between these two boards is so easy to see, and thw ASUS was cheaper. Just a much better thoughyt out board.

The Gigabyte MOBO was definitely borked from the get go.

Swapped the whiny 360MM Thermalright out for a cheaper 280MM Kraken Elite, and it's basically silent with ridiculously low temps., nice simple software for getting your own fan curves set up, and the screen is fantastic.

The Antec Flux Pro case is also really good, the 6 installed fans are all really quiet, and effective so much so that 9070XT fans are hardly ramping up at 340W full tilt!

After a nightware week it's all been worth it. I've got a nice understated light show going on under the desk, which is exactly the effect I was after.

Glad to hear you finally got there and now trouble free!
