Bought the following spec over a month ago and was all working fine. Plugged it together and it worked first time (I know this is a bad sign
)
About two weeks ago I would get a blue screen every 2-3 days (I use the computer about 8hrs a day). I looked in the logs and saw it was an error saying that the 3D card had got in a loop and caused the blue screen plus reboot (this only happened when I was in games) So I changed the drivers and continued still every 2-3 days a blue screen but was never too hard to deal with. Then about a week ago when I got a blue screen and rebooted it as usual but this repeated the next 3-4 times I would start playing a game. Then it would be fine for 2-3 days again.
Today after playing for about 5hrs the PC just powered off no errors in logs nothing then after a reboot it powered off again as I got into Windows (Both XP and vista). After a few reboots it would not even post. I have a 7800 GTX in my other Pc so swapped it around and it still won’t post. My 8800 will not fit in my other PC so I am a bit stuck on testing the card.
From thinking it was just the graphics card to having no idea what it is.
Current state Summary...
PC wont POST with either 8800 or 7800 cards sometimes powers itself off
7800 is working fine in the other PC
Tried it with no graphics card in it and it wont post (no beeps)
Any idea which part is faulty?
Or any other tests you think I could try to help find out what the problem is?
Any help would be much appreciated.
