New build issues.

I have recently upgraded to a core i7 2600k setup and have a few issues.

1. Sometimes when I boot a get 'cpu fan error'. The cpu fan is running but only at 600 rpm (be quiet dark rock cooler). This sometimes goes into the red on the bar in the bios. I have an Asus p8p67 motherboard but don't know how to speed up the fan if that is the issue.

2. I am a bit concerned about my processor temps and voltage. The temps seem quite high at idle and the processor is at stock. Core Temp shows temps from 24-34 degrees whilst just doing basic stuff. When I run prime95 it jumps up to 56 degrees after a few seconds. I have not left it running longer as I worry it will just get worse. The voltages also seem to be jumping all over the place. At times it gets up to 1.32v. I think I might need to reseat the cooler but I found it a nightmare to fit first time round.

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.

1. There is somewhere in the bios where you can specify min and max, I should know exactly because I have a Pro, but it no longer works and I cant go in to check lol.

2. Don't be concerned, if you have really low rpm on your cooler, it clearly will not do as good a job, hence the higher temps. prime95 will do that to a cpu as it's 100% loading all cores on the cpu, again nothing in everyday use is going to tax the cpu like prime95.

Even so the temps are just fine. Fix the low rpm issue in the bios and then check temps again, don't forget though prime95 will still load it big time. To give you a comparison, my i7 2600k sits around the 70's in prime, it is overclocked and still within a good thermal envelope in everyday use.

1.32v is also ok, under auto settings and full load it will fluctuate when it needs the juice. It also matters where you are reading that vcore from, if it's the bios it will likely be incorrect. Cpu-Z can be trusted for vcore reading and the latest version can be grabbed from here. Disregard the last part if you are already using cpu-z lol.

Thanks Liquid

I am reading the voltages from Core Temp. I am a bit more relaxed over the temps as the ones I found in a magazine were 'delta t'. If I read it correctly that is the diffence between the CPU temp reading and the ambient temperature. That's why their figures of 53 degrees, under load with an overclock of 4.5 seemed so low. The core temp reading for them must have been nearer 73 degrees.
