I'm looking to buy new everything when this week in the sales but I can't decide if I should get a new GPU or wait for the new cards next year.

Currently running a 7950 3GB and a 1440p display. Mainly use it for playing games.

Is it worth picking up a 980ti or R9 Fury in the sales or should I keep the 7950 for a while longer?

What games do you play? Thing is, if you're not going to break the bank then you are unlikely to get 60fps @ 1440p so you'll still be around the 30fps stable mark which the 7950 can already do in 99% of games. On the other hand, it's a long time to Pascal/Arctic Islands. I wouldn't expect Fury/980Ti sales (based on what Gibbo said), maybe 10-20 quid discounts at best. A 980 ti/Fury X is a worthwhile upgrade from a 7950, anything else - not so much. For what it's worth I'm in the same situation as you but I decided to wait because I mostly play less demanding games and the game I'd like to upgrade for (Deus Ex) has been delayed a lot so I'm in no hurry.

Currently is only WoW and a bit of ESO but that only because I don't want to have to play stuff on lower settings at 1440p.

Will definitely be getting Division when that comes out, and now Deus Ex has been pushed back I don't think there's much else I'll be picking up unless Fallout 4 goes on sale over Christmas.

If there's a decent offer on tomorrow I think I might go all in.
