New build - little niggle with screen turning itself off

Just put together my first new build for a few years based around an AMD Ryzen 1600 with the Zotac GTX 1060 and Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 mobo

All working great, latest nvidia drivers for GFX and latest Realtek drivers for audio however whilst playing Battlefront I noticed the audio drops out after a while.

The audio goes through HDMI to a Denon amp; tested fine when installed Windows but drops out. If I reset the audio on the amp by selecting a different game mode or return to the mode I'm on, the audio comes back

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks

Is the AVR really old by any chance? I'm not too familiar with HDCP workarounds but I've seen really new HDMI devices not play nice with really old HDMI devices.

You might have better luck getting this solved at a HIFI forum of some sort that deals with PC to AVR. Computer Audiophile forums (google it) would be a good place to start.

Will give it a try thanks

The amp is a Denon that was bought at the end of last year so relatively new and it's still a new / current model

Did wonder about the hdmi cable as it's only a basic hdmi rather than a new one

Tried a newer hdmi cable tonight that's usually connected to my sky q and no drops in audio so will look to replace the cables

I don't want to spend a fortune but is there any recommendations on decent hdmi cables

To be honest, I've found AmazonBasics to be pretty damn good.

HDMI cables need not be expensive to be good. A 10 pound cable from a reliable source that is HDMI 2.0 compliant will be fine.
There is a lot of testing that has been done and many youtube videos showing that a properly made affordable HDMI cable gives the same quality signal as a hundred pound hdmi cable.

No problem but hopefully you can help more now as the niggle has developed

After all the new HDMI cables, the first couple of nights were fine. No problems, playing games etc. but now (no hardware changes or config changes) and the TV connected to my PC just powers off.

I can still hear audio but image disappears and I need to turn the TV back on

Checked all settings and nothing shows the TV should 'turn off' after a period have time

Have just downloaded a new BIOS version for the mobo and also updated graphic drivers to see if that has an effect, but any ideas?

WHat are you running your memory at and what brand/spec is it?

*Additional: is the system clocked?
