new build memory usage

any1 tell me how much physical memory win 7 64bit should be using? when i boot up task manager tells me about 1gb of memory is in use. its a new build and i have next to nothing on the system, a couple of drivers for my mouse and keyboard, Steam (but have disabled it for booting on start using msconfig) and mcafee security centre.

just wondering if this is normal. doesn't seem to be anything much untoward running in processes.

yup thats about right, i get the same readings of around a gig.

Edit: well around 920mb with nothing open other than background untilities
