New build: Monitor says No Signal

I'm using the gigabyte x48 mobo with an BFG 8800gt.

8800gt is sat correctly, the pci e power cable is in correctly. The cables from gpu to monitor are in correctly and for you people familair with the x48 ALL the LED's are on. Thats green through red.

Need help

It's the same card that was in my previous build so yes, it has/does.

And yes the monitor works perfectly fine.

Just tried the card in the second pci e slot with no luck

Did you buy a new psu with your new build Thorpy or are you using the same psu from your previous unstable system?

You're not having much luck... :/

Have you tried running a skeleton setup? (Just the components you need for it to boot)

Might i add that the GPU got very hot after about 5 minutes of just idling there, black screen. Nothing. :/

Mobo, cpu

, gpu one stick of memory - see if you get a signal and can get in the BIOS.

What's very hot? (degrees?)

Ok got it with one ram, cpu and gpu. It turns on, then off, then on, then off etc..

I would set the motherboard up outside of your case using a skeleton setup again - and see if it does the same thing?

Sorry, i thought you may have known the actual temp. But from further posts it's evident it crashed before you got your system anywhere near a windows environment.

It's possible it's shorting against the case - which is why i suggest setting it up outside the case to rule that possibilty out. (although that doesn't quite explain your very first problem)

Plus, it's best practice with a new build and troubleshooting.

You'll find the problem and it may prove to be quite simple solution - just takes a bit of time...

As I mentioned before - just set up the core components that you need to get into the BIOS. Sit the mobo on some cardboard.
