Hi all,

Planning to purchase a new build this week and cant decide on motherboard.

For info it will be paired with 9800x3d / 5090 gaming is the main use.

Looked at these below so far.

MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WiFi £289.98

ASUS TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS WIFI7 £307.99

Gigabyte AMD X870E AORUS PRO £329.99

ASRock AMD X870E Nova WiFi 7 £349.99

ASUS ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WIFI7 £349.99

ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WiFi £379.99

Recommendations welcome thanks!

Do you need multiple NVME's, or have X requirement of what a motherboard needs to have?

Otherwise, why don't you just go B850?
I think it's rather crazy to spend that kind of money on a motherboard, and would never use the few extra features over a B series. Considering what you can get on a B850 now, it seems pointless to get an X?

I'll be having 3 NVME SSD's and 2 SATA SSD's

A B850 would still cover that, so other than that, what makes the X worth having?
If it's a case of 1 of the NVME's won't run at full speed or whatever (I forget if that's still even a thing with AM5?) then does it matter if it's only loading games?
You could always sell your NVME's and just buy a single one the same or bigger?
I wouldn't buy into Gen 5 NVME's though, it's proven to be not worth it over Gen 4.

I wont be buying a gen 5 at all, makes no difference in real world situations does it.

If you are not in a rush then I would wait as refresh season is upon us and new X870 and B850 motherboards are being released.

Saphire have launched there B850 Nitro+ motherboards and there X870 board should be out soon and Gigabyte is releasing there X870 and X870E X3D motherboards soon, already listed on there website, and Asrock has released some new X870 motherboards.

Although that's a decent idea, I'd imagine they're going to be a lot more expensive than current stuff? So I'd still favour grabbing a bargain and getting it sooner?
Either way though, he cant loose :)
Definitely go B850 though ;)

Check the Sapphire B850 motherboards, the Sapphire Nitro+ B850A WiFi 7, has gotten some good reviews, and at a very competitive price, £157.99, on OCUK.

The Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite WIFI7 is also a good choice, £189.95 on OCUK.
