New Build, need advice please.

Yeah, the thread said cut open the bags if needed and use the insides but I'd say it's worth a tenner for a mat for piece of mind.

Seem's reasonable to me. You're spending a fair bit of money so I agree, best to get it right!

I'm sure you'll enjoy building it, all of us on here do anyway :P

Yeah, excited. I'll post some pictures when the time comes but I care more about performance to how it looks, so don't expect anything pretty ;)

That's how it starts off... then you spot some nice looking fans or a nice case... "ooh that would like nice with my PC in it" :P

Anyway, I look forward to pictures. Always exciting building a new PC!

Take you time, and enjoy it :)

Damn, just opened the case I bought from OCUK on the 6th January and one of the front USB ports is knackered :(

Going to have to send this back it seems for a refund >.<

Just read this also:

Now I feel much more confident to do this. I might just buy that first tool kit and mat for £25 as I'd rather place the mobo on that rather than the box or bag is comes with. The tool kit will come into use eventually.

Only thing that slightly worried me was the the thermal paste as I've never used it, but it seems easy enough. I guess it only starts to get complicated when you add radiators and water cooling :)

Beej is quite right. The outside of the anti-static bags is conductive thats why the inside is safe. If you want a mat take my advice from before ;)

Show us what you intend to buy as parts for the rig before you buy. There maybe better offers on RAM for example that you've missed. You've got a good idea of what you can get for your money now though :)

Yeah, was disappointed...

Only cost £75.68 with delivery & VAT but was trying to save money since I would have to pay for it being put together, so if I can get a refund I could buy a better case from OCUK. Any suggestions ahead of time?

This was the one that was faulty:

Wouldn't mind a better looking one :) I'll have a look myself anyway but if you guys know of any. Also posted a thread in customer support section of the forum with the pic.

This one looks awesome for only a few quid more:

This isn't too bad either, but the white is the better of the two looks wise:

Ooo, this one is good:

All of them look nice to me, something different about them being white hehe

depends one which u like the most hehe. all good cases
would recomend NZXT Phantom Enthusiast if u can afford the extra

Yeah, the ones you posted also look good. But white just seems awesome to me right now since I've always had black cases. Got to make sure everything will fit though before getting one, even though I imagine they'll be same or bigger than what I already have now.

Ah well, I might get that then! £110 ain't so bad. I'll just wait for confirmation of OCUK that they'll give me a refund not just a replacement before I buy it, hope they're fast enough so I can get it for the deal price!

Only 1 left in stock... I want to buy it now for that price but what if OCUK only offers me a replacement? Does anyone know if they'll refund my money? I want to get it now ;)

Well I'm pushing for a refund, or even credit towards the other. I'm still buying the other case from them, so they aren't losing out on anything =D

No that is true. I'm sure if you explain they will be happy to help - can't really tell you much as I don't work for them but in my experience they are helpful/understanding :)

Yeah, I told them in the email that I'd be buying that white case anyway, so they're still getting my money either way, win win lol.

But, with my luck, that last one will sell before they get back to me (even though they're normally very fast!) and they won't get stock until it's back in at £115.

Ok, I'm officially ****ed at OCUK for this:

Dear Steve Foster,

Unfortunately we need to be informed of any damage to our products within the 1st 7 days of receipt sir as it states in the terms and conditions on our website.

I am sorry if this causes any problems.

Regards,

James Bailey

What the **** I am supposed to do then? What about people like me who only open the products when they have all the parts and are ready to build?

Snubbing me like that is kinda disrespectful as a first time customer to them. This means I'm going to have to contact CoolerMaster most probably which they didn't even tell me to do.

I'm pretty much thinking of taking my business else ware after this incident. I was going to spend another £600-700 easy at OCUK in the next few months but I might just buy my parts somewhere else cheaper. Even the dreaded purple place has better customer care than this and they're terrible! I remember returning an HDD which I had for 2 months but not opened and they took it back for a full refund!
