I've just put together a new build. But when the system is turned on, all the fans spin but I get no display from the monitor nor do I see any lights on the keyboard at all.

I've taken the RAM out and it beeps, i've even taken the CPU out and turned on (no beeps though!). It's an ASUS p5E mobo with a Nvidia 8800GTS card as the primary display.

I've taken it all to bits and put it back several times with no success.

Any ideas?

Assuming all the power cables are connected correctly etc it sounds like the board is DoA. Worth checking it's nothing silly like the CMOS jumper is in clear still. Some boards are shipped with it set to clear which catches people out.
But on the face of it sounds like you got a duff one :( Pretty annoying on a new build but S*** happens!

Post your full spec for starters.

What brand of RAM are you using with your mobo?

Have you tried booting with one stick.

Do you have another video card you could try? Might be worth getting a dirt cheap one to keep for testing. (I keep an 8400GS for just this kind of issue).

You mention primary display, are you running 2 monitors.

Is power going to your graphics card? Check its seated correctly in the PCIE slot.

FFS. Is this what counts for advice on these forums? Pathetic. Its way too early to tell him his board is DOA.

Given it does nothing with CPU removed my money is still on the mainboard. It should deffo detect bad CPU.
For half the price of a test card you could send it back and let someone else do the hard work for you. Or indeed send both the mobo and GFX card together.

Skiddilliplop was spot on though.

Ripped out the mainboard, stuck a cheapo one in with all the same components and hey presto, all it whirred into life.
