I have put together my new rig:

GA-Z97P-D3 motherboard
i5 4690k
Superflower 650 power supply
970 Graphics. (was working fine in old rig)

Power her up, everything runs, fans etc, but I get no signal to the monitor.

I have tried removing the 970 to try and use the integrated graphics, but still nothing!

Tried 2 different 12v CPU power connectors.

Anyone got any hints?

I'm in trouble, because I reasured my wife the PC would only be out of action for a couple of hours!!

Thanks

Build it outside the case.

Use a single RAM stick then swap to the other stick.

Clear the CMOS (power off, battery out, refit).

If you are using an aftermarket heatsink then you could have over tightened it, bending the pcb and ruining the cpu contact.

Without the graphics card, I should just automatically get video from the integrated shouldn't I? I dont need to set anything?

everything now unplugged, one stick of ram, monitor plugged in via HDMI (only video output on this board)

Nothing. All fans spinning, just no signal.

Have removed and re-seated teh HSF / CPU, all pins look fine in the socket.

So guessing something is dead? CPU or Mobo?

what cable are you using for the GPU ? The HDMI ?

I had a similar problem a while back setting up a PC to a TV via HDMI.

I thought I had a problem, no signal what so ever.

I plugged the PC via DVI-D into one monitor and HDMI into another.

Then when windows loaded I set the output to TV only.

So then when the PC booted it the HDMI was sort of set to default and worked fine.

Have you tried DVI-D or even VGA from the GPU ?

Sorry if this don't help you. Just thought it might.

Hmmm, had it running for about 5 mins, Heat Sync isn't even warm....

Looks like it has good contact with CPU (when I took it off to check earlier, the arctic silver was well spread (used the method off their website)

Trying to rule out the graphics card by using the integrated graphics, only output I have from the board is HDMI... tried HDMI and DVI from teh dedicated card, to no avail. Cant get a signal from anything! I'm fairly sure the card is ok, seeing as I cant even get integrated graphics working....

Sorry I could not help.

I have personally not used a board with only HDMI out.

The monitor is switched on ? I've done that before now..;)

I was just looking on the Gigabyte site and it says the BIOS for the i5 4690K has to be "F5" while most of the lesser chips work on "F3"

Have a look on the boards box for the BIOS version.

Maybe the reason or summet to rule out as the problem ?

Think I have sussed it!! I turned over the pwr and reset headers, and removed teh power led heard (that may have been upside down too) Just powered up and got the splash screen! GOing to plug everything back in and see how it looks....

Thanks for the input guys, appreciated!
