New build not working.

Hello all.

I am at a friend's house helping him to put his new PC together but when turned on, the fans spin, after a couple of seconds the CPU fan spins and then it turns itself off, and does the same afterwards.

I've looked and all the connections are in place.

Spec is as follows

Intel E7200
2GB Corsair XMS2-6400
Gigabyte GA-ep35-ds3p
BFG 512mb 8800GT
Coolermaster Dominator chassis

All advice appreciated!

I know you say you have checked, but is this connection plugged in also? Sometimes overlooked.

All is well.

We believe the culprit to be a faulty stick of RAM.

Take everything out and reconnect step by step.
Take out CPU as well, is the thermal compound applied properly ? Reapply.

Make sure everything is 100% right.

If still the same,
Disconnect CD,FDD and other unimportant stuff, network cards etc.

Try to run it with 1 GPU, 1HDD, 1 stick of RAM and a CPU.

Do you hear any beeps ?
Any HDD activity ?
How long till it turns off itself ?

RAM should give you beeps usually.
