New build options

All my parts have arrived (thank you OcUK), so now the build begins. (parts in my siggy below)
I have cloned (with Macrium Reflect) the 860EVO to my WD MyPassport USB external HDD, so I can format the SSD and use it in the new build.
Will I be able to boot the old PC from the WD Ext HDD, just so I have a PC to check out you guys/gals and Youtube for help and advice during the build? I don't have short notice access to another PC. TIA.

God, you're fast Tam, thank you. Once I remove the SSD, will it boot from the WD automatically please?
