New build PC not working.. help!

Hi,
I just put together the following system and have connected everything up and double checked it all, however I cannot get it to work. When I turn it on I get no picture and the monitor just says "no signal" then goes to standby mode. The psu, cpu and case fan are all working and the green light on the corner of the motherboard comes on okay. I have even tried moving the ram about and trying 1 stick at a time but no luck.

Any suggestions?

The asus motherboard has onboard graphics and I installed a radeon 3450 too. I tried connecting the monitor cable to both, but no luck.

sounds like a graphics card issue....check all the connections to the gpu

Theres no connections to the gpu.. and its slotted in properly. Also I tried removing the 3450 and just using the onboard graphics, but same problem!

try out of the case to see if you have a case standoff shorting the board somewhere

You mean pull the motherboard and everything out of the case? Okay I'll give it a go.

Erm... this sounds like a daft question.. but should the cpu have some sort of power lead connected to it? The only power lead is the one to the cpu cooler, the actual cpu doesnt have any sort of power lead. On my other system (intel core 2 system) it has a "CPU 1" cable running from the psu into the motherboard. On the AMD system (the one with the problem) it doiesnt seem to have any such cable from the psu, it has a 4 pin cable labelled P3 though which would fit onto a bit on the motherboard thats labelled "ATX 12v".

Yes there should be a power cable from the PSU. 4 or 8 pin.

Oh, yeah.. that P3 connector seemed to fix the problem. How embarrassing.. why dont they label these bl**y things up properly!?
