New Build Possible PSU issue, please HELP
Hi every one, first time in the OC Forums but very old customer since 2003.
Any ways I bought all the components from OC for my new build, I placed the order on 10th of March 10 and received it on the 12th.
heres what I got:
##########################################
Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 850W Power Supply
Asus P6X58D Premium Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66GHz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung SpinPoint F3 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Sony Optiarc AD-7241S 24x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe Optical Drive (Black)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler
##########################################
I have Windows 7 x64 installed and runnig another 2 not very old SATA II Maxtor hard drives as well.
#####################################
I usually run the PC during the day and switch it off at night. My issue started on the second day, when I start the PC the MOBO will take very long time to id the Hard drives then post will fail to load windows by claiming that no drive to boot from.
I removed all the hard drives except the Master windows one then I switched the PC again Windows loaded like nothing had happened. At the time I was suspecting BAD RAM or something wrong with the MOBO.
While running with 1 Hard drive I had no problems or NO BSODS at all. SO updated the MOBO Bios to latest release, RUN tests on RAM overnight all PASSED without a Problem.
I hocked the 4 Hard drives again to the PSU using one SATA cable with four connectors on one "Rail/Port" on the PSU like I did first time, the PC booted with no issues.
Next day I switched the computer on and the issue is Back MOBO will not detect hard drives again like they are not powered althought I can see all the hard drives OK in Bios except for one time the Primary Hard drive for the Windows was reported in the bios as 4582.00TB while its only 320GB and its the brand new one that I bought with the stuff.
to make it short sometimes the PC will load fine oneday and next day after everything seemed good it will load windows but all hard drives will fail right after and windows will BSOD with this error 0xC000009E and once came up with this one 0x0000009C.
I replaced my GPU cable to another one but seemed its not a GFX related issue. Then it occured to me to powerup 2 hard drives on one "Rail/port" off the PSU and the other 2 HD's on a Different "Rail/port" off the PSU instead of having all the four hard drives running on one Cable althought that should work fine as why would coolermaster do one cable with 4 HD Sata ports if the PSU can not do it.
Any ways to my surprise after running the 4 HD from 2 different power ports on the PSU the PC never crashed again, the Hard Drives never failed.
So my Dear friends tell me is it a PSU problem, OC customer support told me if I return it to them and they find no fault they will return it back to me. I so regret getting this Coolermaster PSU, I always wanted the Corsair HX 850W but I am an ass
So please advice me what should I do? I do not want to risk the PSU returned back to me
I am so sorry for the long post.
