Just finished a new build today, but I can't seem to get anything out of it!

I'm using an Asus P5N7A-VM mobo with an e5200 chip. When I power it up, i don't get any signal to my screen, any POST beeps.. nothing.

I've had a look inside - the mobo LED is lit up (suggesting it's getting power fine), the CPU fan is spinning, the front 120mm fan is spinning, the DVD drive is powered up fine, as is the SATA HDD, however the rear fan is randomly stuttering.. if i give it a spin, it'll stay spinning, but it looks like it's getting a trickle of power!

This is my first build in a loooooooooooong time, so things have changed a bit since my previous.. so i'm wondering if im doing something wrong with the power connections...

The manual points out a separate 4-pin ATX power connector in the opposite corner of the mobo and does state that it won't power up without that... but there's no power connector on my PSU that has 4 pins... the closest I have, is a 6 pin connector!

I've plugged in the 'normal' ATX power connector, as well as the "extra" 4 pin next to it... it's that exact type of connection that i need over the other side...

so hmm...... i'm probably being stupid, but can anyone shed some light?

Thanks!

:D

You need that 4/8 pin cpu power plugged in.

The 6 pin cable is for the gpu.

What PSU have you got.

Sure does :)

The last time I built a PC, all i needed to do was connect a single 24 pin ATX power connector...... now there's an extra 2x 4-pin connectors as well? Weird :D
