finished building a new pc last night the spec is as follows;

amd athlon x2 4200+
arctic cooling freezer 64 pro
asus a8n sli se
1gb corsair twinx 3200
250gb hitachi deskstar sata2
asus 7900gt top
NEC 4571 DVD-RW
antec p180
enermax liberty 500w

built the computer no problems at all, but when i turning on a get a completely blank screen. everything seems to power up ok all the fans are on. i just plugged in a speaker from an old pc (the antec doesnt have one) and im getting 1 long 2 short beeps. im aware that this is a grpahics problem, i've checked the cards power connection and have taken the actual card out several times just making sure i put it in right. surely i havent got a duff card! anyone with any thoughs/help would be much appreciated!

Have you cleared the bios via the jumper on the mobo? ,If not it's certainly the first thing to do :).

Also moved to "General Hardware" as your problem could be caused by a number of items & you'll no doubt get more replys in there:)

Finally welcome to the forums:)

yes, the only thing i can think of is thats its a fulty card then.. could do with testing in it in another computer but dont know anyone with a pci-e motherboard

i tried it without the graphics card in and i do get the same beeps (vga fault), what i've decided to do is take the whole system to a local store and ask them if they wouldnt mind trying the graphics card in one of their systems. also im gonna see if they'll put one of their cards into my motherboard to see if that works, either way then i'll know if its a graphics card or motherboard problem... or both haha

Yeah you would get the same beeps if you don't have a Video card in there, VGA fault, yes there isn't a one plugged in. ;)

Id just take the graphics in for them to try. :)

i've just tried a VERY old pci graphics card in the computer but still getting the same fault... im starting to think its the motherboard. anyone got any other ideas?
