New build problems - help please!

I've just put together my new rig and it's not playing ball at all

Spec consists of

E6600
Asus P5K Deluxe
4GB Crucial ballistix PC5300
X1900 XT-X
Corsair HX620 PSU
all watercooled

When I press the power button the fans turn on, then turn off. It then tries to start up again, but the same happens

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad motherboard to me, but I don't know

Any beeps from the motherboard? Have you tried reseating everything? Have you definitely plugged in the 4/8 pin motherboard power connector aswell as the 24 pin connector? It's possible something from the motherboard could be shorting out on the back of the case.

Yeah that kinda sounds like somethings shorting...

Like suggested, check all power connections, and re-seat cpu ram etc...

You can try powering it up with just cpu / ram and gpu as well, see what happens...If you want to rule out the shorting issue, if there is one that is...Just take the mobo out of the case and try it like that.

Took the mobo out of the case and placed it on an anti-static bag on top of the mobo box.

Still the same issue with a different psu and different graphics card

I plugged some fans into the headers on the motherboard and reset the CMOS
