new build problems

I'll try it today though, I've tried everything else I can think of.

I don't really overclock anymore, I just want a reasonably fast solid system.

Best thing to do is make sure that the RAM voltage and timings are correct to the specification of the modules. maybe even up the RAM voltage by 0.1 if you are using 4 sticks. Also try bumping the Northbridge Voltage a small amount and see what happens. usually instability during installations comes from RAM not set correctly. Give that a go and come back to us :)

OK I'll give it a try.

So could the original board be OK and the voltages just of dropped off over time possibly.

I'll try the original mobo first I think.

This is a long shot but I noticed a little earlier that the sleep key on my keyboard was jammed halfway in. Is there any chance that it could have been causing this problem at all?

Maybe, no way to say for certain. best thing is to set the BIOS settings up properly and unjam the key. Setting them manually is a good idea anyhow :)

I just pressed the sleep key very slightly and it did exactly what its been doing for the past week or so. Thinking back, it nearly always happened when I was using the keyboard.

If this is the problem I am both releived and pretty embarrassed :o

Off to try another keyboard.

hi
i hope it was your keyboard playing up. looks like you've spent a tidy sum trying to get it all to work.

if not then the only 2 constants in all your builds are the cpu and media.
they would be my next choices for changing.

that's all i've got sorry.

But, as your session resumed, or powered off?

If it's resumed, that's your issue.

Resumed OK, would you credit it, bloody keyboard after all that aggro.

OK hands up, who would have suggested the keyboard sleep key being iffy.............no, me neither.

OK so what would be a good wired keyboard?

Typing and general use is my first consideration with gaming etc a poor second.
