Hi Chaps,

Ive just built a Haswell system for a friend. Gigabyte z78-hd3, 4670k.

its got a 100gb ssd and a 1tb wd hdd.

when i start the system it just hangs at the post screen for aeound 30 seconds. i instal win7. it goes ok and gets ro the desktop etc but when i restart the instal is corrupted???

anyway if i remove either ssd or hdd and instal to one or the other its fine and i have no issues as long as one of the drives is unplugged. doesnt matter which one.

ive flasher to the latest bios and its the same aswell

any ideas??

cheers

If you are installing an OS to an ssd, you should not have the hdd connected. Disconnect your hdd and try again. Also, make sure ACHI is selected in the bios.

ok so as soon as i unplug the other drive then it boots. i just threw in a 250gb hdd to see if it was the other hdd causing problems but it did the same again

have you checked boot orders? Your sata config might be funky

or maybe trying to reformat the drive using a bootable program first.

Hi mate ive just tried both of them and the same thing happened. Im about to give up on this lol.

The only way it will boot is if i set raid as the sata option and just just the ssd.

or, use achi as the sata option and use the hdd as the main drive.

I seriously have no clue whats going on lol

Might be a long shot, but try a Cmos reset or just take the battery out for a few minutes. That should reset everything to default.
