Hi everyone,

So ive just started to get my new build in the case, ive got an ASUS B650E-E Gaming WiFi mobo, 64gb 6000mhz corsair VENGEANCE RGB, and a lian li 1000w edge gold PSU.

So ive managed to get everything in the case. Fans installed, and I/o headers on correctly. Now I know i haven't got the cpu in as of yet but I've read that its possible to boot the pc without a cpu to update the BIOS. my problem is that when I plug the psu in and flip the switch, the mobo RGB comes on and when I push the power button well nothing... I have tried shorting the pins and even tried a power switch from an older PC and still.nothing happens. I tried it without the RAM installed and with 1 CPU power connector plugged in but still nothing. I registered the board on Asus website and it told me that the warrenty for it has expired which for a board I brought 4 months ago is pretty poor, I have emailed them asking for support, but ive heard the horror stories about asus and warrenty issues so i decided to try a forum. Am I just missing something? The case is hyte y60 so the front i/o is a grouped block (but I dont see this being the issue. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! I do have my old build still thankfully but wanting to get the new buold sorted

You don't have to boot the board to flash it, you just need standby power. I think there's a little chip on the board that does it.

Why do you intend to pre-flash it though, what's the reason?

I was trying to update the bios just so I know its ready when I instal the cpu.
Are you using a 9000 series CPU which you suspect is not compatible with the shipping BIOS? Personally, I'm not keen on updating the BIOS when the only feedback I get is a flashing light at the back of the board.

No, i will be using a 7000 Series 9800X 3D, but ive hear the horror stories about some frying and a bios update could help prevent it from happening.
stories have been overblown
Don't think Asus was affected in the first place. And XMP needs to be enabled to get to dangerous levels of SoC voltage. So install CPU, keep at stock if worried.
Update bios normally. I think its safer anyway, the headless bios flashback gives so little feedback and is so slow I only did it once when there was no other option.

If you mean you are getting a 7800X3D, it is supported from bios version 1409 (very early) so will probably work.

Think it was only Asrock that had problems with the 9800X3D.

This video shows how to do bios flashback. (not your board but will be the same process)

As for the warranty. If you ever need to RMA it, return it to where you bought it from.
